Stubbs: “1 more billion people out of poverty”
Interview with Associate Vice-president of Ifad about the ‘Millennium goals’, to be reached within 2015
“One billion of people have been taken out of poverty. Now the challenge is: how are going to help bring out of poverty another 1 billion of people?”. This is the key message from Associate Vice-President of Ifad Josefina Stubbs in this interview, dealing with the achievements of the ‘Millennium Development Goals’, which expire in 2015 and will soon be replaced by the Sustainable Development Goals.
“Smallholder farmers – says Stubbs – are the key for nutrition and sustainable agriculture. In developing countries they produce food to feed 80% of the population”.
